Eligibility
Mathematics
M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./M.A./B.A./B.Sc. degree holders or final year students with a consistently good academic record.
Physics / Chemistry
M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. degree holders or final year students. Fresh B.Sc. graduates or final year students with consistently good academic record and knowledge of advanced topics may also apply.
Biology
Ph.D. Programme : M.Sc. in any basic science discipline, M.Sc. (Ag), B.Tech., B.E.,MBBS, B.V.Sc., BDS, B.Pharm. & M.Pharm.
Integrated Ph.D. Programme or M.Sc.: B.Sc. in any basic science discipline / B.Sc. (Agriculture / Horticulture / Fishery).
(Final year students of all above degrees are eligible to apply.)
Computer & Systems Sciences
B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. (all relevant disciplines) degree holders or final year students with consistently strong academic record. Fresh B.Sc. students with
an outstanding academic record and motivation for research.
Science Education
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai.

Application Procedure:
Applications for Hall Ticket may be submitted online. Please refer appropriate link. Students who wish to apply online and make payment by DD may take a print of their application and send it with the Demand Draft with ther name and reference code written behind the DD.
Students from remote areas who do not have web access can apply for a Hall Ticket on plain paper stating :
(1) name, date of birth, address, telephone number, mobile number, e-mail address, subject of choice, preferred test centre and a detailed table of marks from 10th standard onwards.
(2) Two passport size photographs : One pasted and one stapled to the application.
(3) A Stamped (Rs.20/-) and self-addressed envelope (25cm x 17cm) superscribed “GS-2009 (Subject)”.
(4) Demand Draft.
Candidates may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if the timings do not clash. Please send a separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject.
Payment Option :
1) Online Application : Pay by Debit/Credit Card or send DD with name and reference code written behind it.
2) Plain Paper Application : Pay by DD with name written behind it and send along with application and other material.
Demand Draft :
Biology : DD should be drawn on State Bank of India payable in Bangalore in favour of “National Centre for Biological Sciences”
All other subjects : DD should be drawn on State Bank of India payable in Mumbai in favour of “Tata Institute of Fundamental Research”.
Applicaton Fee (Non-Refundable) : Rs 350/-
Fee Waiver :
A waiver of the application fee on grounds of financial distress may be requested by a letter from the Principal or the Head of the Department justifying the request. Please download the hall ticket application form from the "downloads" section of this website, print it, fill it and send along with photographs and the letter from the Principal / HOD. Please not that applications with fee waiver request will be issued hall tickets as per availability of seats.

Note :
a) Hall tickets will issued only after receipt of application fee.
b) Students applying online will be able to login to their account and generate their Hall Ticket subject to receipt of application fee.
c) DDs with wrong denomination will not be returned and hall ticket will not be issued.
