Bharion Singh Shekhawat was born on October 23, 1923 in Khachriawas in Sikar district of Rajasthan. He served in that position since August 2002, when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant. He resigned on July 21, 2007, after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil. He was the former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party politician.
