Eligibility For Admission

I. M Sc DEGREE IN NURSING (2 YEARS)

Eligible for this programme is a candidate who
1. has completed BSc(N)/BSc Hons./Post Basic BSc Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
2. has undergone a full time (regular stream not distance mode) programme in BSc (N) /BSc Hons / Post Basic BSc(N) in an institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
3. has minimum one year of work experience from the date of registration as Nurse and Midwife after BSc Nursing (OR) after or prior to Post Basic BSc Nursing programme as on 15th April 2013 in any institution/hospital or as a full time Public Health Nurse.
4. possesses registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates). The male candidates who do not possess midwifery registration certificate will not be able to apply for MSc (N) in Obstetrics and Gynaecological / Community Health Nursing irrespective of their experience in the area.
5. is medically fit.

II. POST BASIC B Sc NURSING (2 YEARS)

Eligible for this programme is a candidate who
1. is a Diplomate in Nursing after 12 years of schooling.
2. possesses registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates).
3. is medically fit.

III. FELLOWSHIPS IN NURSING (1 YEAR)

A. Fellowship in Family Nurse Practice (FFNP)
B. Fellowship in Haematology Nursing
C. Fellowship in Respiratory Nursing

Eligible for this programme is a candidate who
1. has completed BSc Nursing/Post Basic BSc Nursing Programme of The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai or any other University accepted as equivalent there to.
2. possesses registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery/alternate course (applicable to male candidates).
3. is a graduate nurse with a minimum of one year work experience as on 15th July 2013 in any clinical area in the hospital or in the community.
4. is applying for FFNP must be a Registered Nurse and Midwife
5. is medically fit.

IV. POST BASIC DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN NURSING (1 YEAR)

Eligible for the programme is a candidate who:

1. has completed Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery / BSc Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing graduate.
2. possesses registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates).
3. is a staff nurse with one year work experience as on 15th July 2013 in any clinical area in the hospital or in the community.
4. is medically fit.

Application Process

Application forms for the programmes can be received on request to The Registrar, College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore-632 004, Tamilnadu. It can be obtained either by hand or post by sending the prescribed fee (as mentioned in the table below) as crossed demand draft drawn in favour of CMC Vellore Association payable at State Bank of India, Vellore Town Branch code 1618. Hand written demand drafts will not be accepted. No other mode of payment will be accepted. Each group must be in a separate application form. The application form for the programme desired must be specified. The address with pin code in block letters may be given for proper communication.

Registration fee (for each preference*) : Rs. 650/- ($ 100)

Course: Post Basic BSc Nursing
Application fee : Rs. 850/- ($ 100)
Registration fee (for each preference*) : Rs. 550/- ($ 75)

Course: Fellowships in Nursing *
Application fee :Rs. 850/- ($ 100)
Registration fee (for each preference*) : Rs. 550/- ($ 70)

Course: Post Basic Diploma Programmes in Nursing *
Application fee : Rs. 400/- ($ 60)
Registration fee (for each preference*) : Rs. 350/- ($ 60)

When paid by demand draft, please mention the details in the form and enclose the original DD (and keep a photocopy for your reference). Any form of fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance.

Please keep your application number safe to access your hall ticket and the results from the website.

Candidates must enclose the following:-

1. Demand draft for the registration fee (and the application fee if applied online) drawn in favour of CMC VELLORE ASSOCIATION payable at the State Bank of India, Vellore Town, code 1618.Hand written demand drafts will not be accepted.

2. Copies of Nursing certificates – Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery/alternate course (applicable to male candidates)/BSc Nursing/ Post Basic BSc Nursing.

3. Registration certificates from the State Nursing Council for Nursing & Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates). Registration certificate for additional qualification (for those who completed Post Basic BSc Nursing)

4. Experience certificates after Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery / BSc Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing till date.

5. Mark lists of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery / BSc Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing

6. Transcript of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery/ BSc Nursing/Post Basic BSc Nursing

7. Certificate indicating the Date of Birth (if not stated in the 10th/12th mark sheet)

8. General education qualification certificates (10th & 12th)

9. Current medical fitness certificate

10. Merit certificates (if the candidate is a best outgoing student, a certificate from the institution indicating the same should be enclosed, refer Annexure IV)

11. Community certificate from the Government Authority

12. Baptism certificate / Confirmation certificate – if Christian

13. Sponsorship obligation completion certificate (if applicable)

14. No objection certificate from the latest employer

15. Certificate for serving in needy areas. (refer Annexure V)

16. Two self addressed long envelopes (9” x 4”) with Rs.5/- stamp affixed

Candidates who have applied for MSc Nursing, Post Basic BSc Nursing, Fellowships in Nursing and Post Basic Diploma programmes in Nursing will appear for a written examination. The short listed candidates called for the medical checkup and interview after the preliminary selection will be published in the website and intimated individually by post by the 2nd week of December.

Hall Tickets

The Hall Ticket will be sent by post to all the candidates. In non receipt of the hall ticket one week prior to the written test, candidates may print it out from the website http://home.cmcvellore.ac.in/admissions/admin.htm. Please keep your application and registration numbers handy. If any problem is encountered, kindly contact the office of the Registrar by post, email, telephone or fax.

Entrance Examination

All eligible candidates are required to undertake a written examination (multiple choice questions) on 24th November 2012. The examination will be conducted in the following cities - Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pudhucherry, Trivandrum and Vellore (refer Annexure –II). The candidates are expected to report 1/2 an hour before the examination at the centre with the hall ticket. The examination will be conducted in English.
