Applications are invited from eligible candidates for registration to the PhD Degree in the Faculty of Medicine of this University.

Eligibility:-

Candidates who passed P.G. Degree (M.D/M.S/M.Sc.) of this University under Medical Faculty or any other Medical Degree (like DIP NB) recognized by the MCI/University equivalent thereto.

Mode of Selection

There shall be an Entrance Examination for each subject conducted by the Research Centre, consisting of objective and descriptive type of questions with maximum marks of 100 (50 marks each). The admission shall be made from the ranklist on the basis of Entrance examination and the candidates who secure 50% and above marks are eligible for admission. Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, however, need only 35%. In the case of employed candidates ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer is necessary.

The number of seats available can be ascertained from the University website. The Research Centre will decide the actual number of vacancies to be filled by this notification.

The prescribed application form for entrance examination for PhD Programme downloaded from the website along with Chalan receipt for Rs.500/- (Rs.125/- for SC/ST) towards fee should reach the concerned Research Centre on or before 30.11.2008.

Eligibility Criteria :

The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below:
B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch :Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.
M.B.B.S/B.D.S. : Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.
PHARMACY: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

For MBBS and BDS courses : In addition to the aforesaid eligibility criteria, the general candidates must have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST) in the Joint Entrance Examination, W.B.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2009 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2009 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction :

Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2009. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 20 years as on 01.01.2009.

Residential Requirements:

Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2008 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home addresses in the State of West Bengal.

Reservation : Reservation for SC/ST/PC candidates are as per State Govt. Rules.

Examination Centre: To be located in the State of West Bengal and Tripura.

Cost of Application Form : The Application Kit (i.e., prescribed printed application form along with Information Brochure and a printed envelope) will be available from different Branches of United Bank of India (as specified below) on payment of Rs.500/- (for E / M type Form) and Rs.600/- for C type Form in cash .

Sale of Application form :

The Application Kit will be available from 28.11.2008 to 31.12.2008 at the following Branches of UNITED BANK OF INDIA : Old Court House St., College St, Sealdah, Hatibagan, Jadavpur, Behala, Mayukh Bhawan – Salt Lake, BESU Shibpur, Asansol, Durgapur City Centre, Burdwan (Main Branch), Katwa (Station Rd.), Serampore, Chinsurah, Arambag, Kalyani, Krishnagar, Barasat, Diamond Harbour, Kolaghat, Haldia, Kharagpur, Suri, Bolpur, Bankura, Purulia, Berhampur, Raiganj, Balurghat, Malda, Siliguri, Darjeeling (25, H.D. Lama Rd.) Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Agartala (Tripura) on all working days between banking hours on payment of requisite fee.
The Application Kit may also be obtained by Post from the Board’s Office on application with an additional fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred) only. The total amount (i.e., cost of application form plus Rs.100/-) has to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD” payable at Howrah/Kolkata. The last date for request by post for application-kit is 18.12.2008 and the last date for receipt of completed application form by Speed Post only is 14.01.2009. Request for application form received beyond the stipulated date as mentioned above will not be entertained and the Board shall not be held responsible in any manner whatsoever for such non-receipt arising out of postal delay. The Application Kit may also be obtained from the Board’s Office only with payment of late fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) in addition to the actual cost of the form. The whole amount is to be paid through a Bank Draft to be drawn in favour of “West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board” payable at Kolkata / Howrah from 01.01.2009 to 07.01.2009. The application form once purchased cannot be returned or replaced.

How to Apply :


The duly filled in application form must be sent in the printed envelope received by the candidate within the Application Kit by SPEED POST only so as to reach the office of the Board by 14.01.2009. Submission of Application Form by hand or courier service will not be accepted.

Entrance Examination for Admission to Post Graduate Degree Courses in Homoeopathy (M D Homoeo), Kerala: 2008- 2009

1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to M D Homoeopathy Courses for the year 2008-2009 in the Government Homoeopathic Medical Colleges, at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

(i) Nationality : Applicant should be an Indian Citizen.

(ii) Academic Qualifications : BHMS Degree (Direct/Graded) or its equivalent, declared thereto, by the Central Council of Homoeopathy. Candidates who complete the prescribed internship training on or before 31.10.2008 are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that they should produce the Medical Council Registration Certificate at the time of admission. Candidates who have passed the final year examination with more than three chances are not eligible for admission.

(iii) Age: The candidates otherwise eligible for admission should not be more than 45 years as on 01.01.2009 subject to relaxation of a maximum of five years in the case of SC/ST Candidates and Teachers of Homoeopathic Medical Colleges/Research Officers of Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy.

3. Selections and Entrance Examination:

Selection of Candidates except for the seats reserved under Rural Service Quota and for Teachers working in the Private as well as Government Homoeopathic
Medical Colleges in Kerala will be made on the basis of the rank in an Entrance Examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) at Thiruvananthapuram on 10.01.2009 (Saturday). It will consist of two papers, each of two hours duration and each Paper having 150 Objective type (Multiple Choice) questions.

4. Application forms:

The Application form is common for all candidates. The Prospectus and application form can be downloaded from the Website at www.cee-kerala.org from 25.11.2008 onwards. Application forms will not be sold from the office of the CEE or from the Government Homoeopathic Medical Colleges.

5. How to apply:

Those candidates, whose selection is based on the Entrance Examination should forward their filled up applications along with supporting documents and a Demand Draft of Rs. 800/- (Rupees Eight Hundred Only) for General candidates / Rs. 400/- (Rupees Four Hundred only) for SC/ST candidates, drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – 695 001, either by Registered post or hand delivery so as to reach him before the last date prescribed for the receipt of application form.

Candidates applying against the seats reserved under Rural Service Quota and for Teachers Quota inGovernment and Private Homoeopathic Medical Colleges should send their applications routed throug their Heads of Departments/Institutions with necessary NOC furnished in the application form and the application fee of Rs. 800/- by way of Demand Draft (drawn from any Nationalized Bank, in favour of the Principal and Controlling Officer, Government Homoeopathic Medical College,Thiruvananthapuram, payable at Thiruvananthapuram) to the Director of Homoeopathy, East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram -695 023 [ in case of Rural Service Quota ] or to the Principal and Controlling Officer, Government Homoeopathic Medical college, Iranimuttom, Thiruvananthapuram, Pin- 695 009, [in case of Teacher’s Quota] on or before the last date of receipt of application. Fee once remitted will not be refunded on any account.

6. Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms:

All Candidates including those applying against seats reserved for Teachers/Rural Service Quota should forward their completed application to the respective authorities so as to reach them before 20.12.2008 (Saturday). Late applications including those brought after 5 PM on 20.12.2008 will not be accepted. The CEE or the other officers will not be responsible for any postal delay.

7. Belated, incomplete, defective and wrongly addressed applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard. Candidates will neither be allowed to include any information in the application form nor to submit any certificates / documents claiming reservation or any benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances. Candidates must note that they have to obtain the required certificates in the respective format given in the Application form. The certificates, which are not in the format specified in the application form, will not be considered under any circumstances.

8. The CEE will conduct the Entrance Examination, publish a Rank list of candidates based on merit as assessed at the Entrance Examination and forward the same to Chairman and Convenor of the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will make the allotments and forward the Select list to the Colleges concerned for making admission.

9. Candidates may go through details given in the Prospectus for admission to the Post Graduate Homoeopathy Courses: 2008-09, approved by the Government of Kerala and published by the Principal and Controlling Officer, Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Iranimuttom, Thiruvananthapuram, before filling the application form.

The schedule will remain unaltered even if the above date is declared a public holiday.

ELIGIBILITY FOR JEE-2009

A candidate has to satisfy ALL the eligibility conditions given below:

A candidate can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. Those who have appeared in JEE in 2007 or earlier are not eligible for appearing in JEE-2009.

Candidates appearing in JEE-2009 should have either passed the qualifying examination in 2008 or should be appearing in 2009. They should also satisfy the specific eligibility criteria in the qualifying examination. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination before October 1, 2007 are not eligible to write JEE-2009.

Candidates should meet the age requirements given below.

Candidates should NOT have accepted admission by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISMU, Dhanbad, through earlier JEE.

Qualifying Examination

Candidates applying for JEE-2009 should have either passed after October 1, 2007, or should be appearing in 2009 in any one of the following qualifying examinations.

The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.

Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.

Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.

H.S.C. Vocational Examination.

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

3 or 4-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

Eligibility Criteria in Qualifying Examination

Candidates belonging to General (GE), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Qualifying Examination. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Disabled (PD) categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the Qualifying Examination. The percentage of marks awarded by the Board will be treated as final. If the Board does not award the percentage of marks, it will be calculated based on the marks obtained in all subjects listed in the mark sheet. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of counselling. In case such a certificate is not provided by the candidate, then the decision of the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE-2009 regarding his/her eligibility shall be final.

Important Notes

Those candidates who will be appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 or later are not eligible to apply for JEE-2009.

All provisional admissions to candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in the year 2009 will stand cancelled, if the proof of having passed the Qualifying Examination, as per the eligibility criteria specified above is not submitted to the concerned Institute latest by September 30, 2009. If a Board normally declares the results of the qualifying examination after 30th September of each year, students of such Boards are advised to attempt JEE in the following year.

All admissions are subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents of the candidates. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will be cancelled. The decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE-2009 regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.

Age Requirements

For GE and OBC categories, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1984, are eligible to appear in JEE-2009. For SC, ST, and PD categories, candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1979, are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the High School/first Board/Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic. If the high school certificate does not mention the date of birth, provide a suitable document indicating the date of birth along with the application. Candidates must produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age at the time of counselling, failing which they will be disqualified.

Physical Fitness

All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available to them at an appropriate time. They will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at the participating institutes.

Special Requirements for Mining Engineering and Mining Machinery Courses

Candidates opting for these courses should make sure that they do not have any form of colour blindness. They will be required to submit a certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner to this effect at the time of counselling. The standard of visual acuity with or without glasses will be adhered to strictly for candidates seeking admission to Mining Engineering as per DGMS Circular 14 of 1972. Persons with one-eyed vision are not permitted to work underground. Candidates with above limitations are not allowed to opt for admission to Mining Engineering or Mining Machinery Engineering.

Female Candidates for Mining Courses

Section 46 (1) of the Mines Act, 1952 states that “No woman shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, be employed (a) in any part of a mine which is below ground, (b) in any mine above ground except between the hours 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.”. Female candidates are not admitted to Mining Engineering and Mining Machinery Engineering at ISMU, Dhanbad, whereas the corresponding programmes at IIT Kharagpur and IT-BHU, Varanasi, have no such restricti

1. Applications are invited from FEMALE candidates for admission to 4 years BSc (Nursing) course commencing in Aug 2009 at College of Nursing Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune and 3½ years Training in Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery course commencing in Sep 2009 at various Armed Forces Hospitals.

Selected candidates shall execute an agreement/Bond to serve in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) for 5 years. On successful completion of Nursing Training (4/3½ yrs), the candidates will be granted commission in the Military Nursing Service, under the terms and conditions laid down for grant of such commission. They shall have to refund the entire cost of training in the event of withdrawal from the course, termination of training or refusal to accept commission in the MNS, if offered. During training they will be provided with free ration, accommodation, uniform allowance and monthly stipend.

2. Eligibility Conditions

(a) Female who are unmarried or divorcee/legally separated or widow without encumbrances.
(b) Nationality – Indian
(c) Date of Birth - Between 01 Jan 84 and 01 Jan 92
(d) Educational Qualification – Should have passed in the FIRST ATTEMPT the complete senior secondary (10+2)/ equivalent examination from a recognized Board /University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50% aggregate marks as a regular student. Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing for final year of qualifying examination during the current academic session may also apply. The candidates finally selected for the course will have to submit proof of their having passed the qualifying exam before joining the course. Those who have passed such examinations as private students or with compartment in any subject are not eligible.
(e) Physical standards – Medical fitness will be determined as per Military Standards by Military Authorities. X-Ray examination of Chest will be done. Minimum height should be 142 cms.

3. Selection:

Eligible applicants will be called for an objective type written test of 90 minutes duration covering the topics in General English, Biology and General Intelligence, likely to be held in Jan/Feb 2009. The parts of question paper pertaining to Biology and General Intelligence will be bilingual. Candidates as per merit on the basis of written test will be called for interview during Mar/April 2009. Final selection will be as per combined merit, subject to medical fitness.

4. Medical Examination:

After the interview the recommended candidates will have to appear for medical examination before a Special Medical Board (SMB), candidates declared FIT / UNFIT will be informed by the President of the Medical Board and regarding the procedure for requesting for APPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD.

5. Written Examination Centers:

Bangalore, Chandimandir, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Danapur, Guwahati, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Vishakapatnam. The number of centers may change as per the number of candidates appearing for the written test.

Note: If sufficient number of candidates are not available at any centre, the candidates opting for that centre will be allotted the centre of their second choice.

6. How to apply:

(a) Apply on plain paper A4 as per the format given in the advertisement (to be typed in Block letters).
(b)Applications received after the last date, will neither be opened nor be entertained.
(c) Applications received on newspaper cutting or its photocopy will not be entertained.

7. The following is the list of enclosures to be attached (PHOTO COPIES ONLY) with the application. These documents should be neatly tagged. Similar and recent Photo on the application form as well as on the admit cards should be pasted and not stapled. DGMS- 4B will not be held responsible for loss of any documents while handling at any stage: -

(a) Attested copy of Matric/equivalent certificate, showing DATE OF BIRTH.

(b)Attested copy of complete Mark Sheet of Senior Secondary (10+2) / equiv. exam. In case subject codes and maximum marks are given on reverse side copies of BOTH SIDES are essential. (Candidates appearing in qualifying examination (10+2) /equiv exam should enclose certificate to the same effect from the Principal of the school).

(c) Attested copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST candidates.

(d) In case the time gap in 10th or 12th classes is more than two years, a certificate from concerned School / College that candidate passed complete Sr secondary Exam in the First Attempt as a regular student.

(e) Four copies of admit letters on A4 paper with passport size photo (without attestation), duly pasted in the space provided. If the photograph is not properly pasted and is stapled/loosely affixed and gets detached while in transit/handling, the application of such candidate is liable to be rejected.

(f) Four self-addressed envelopes of good quality of size 27 x 12 cms. Postal stamps of Rs 6/- be fixed on each envelope.

(g) An affidavit stating that you are issueless (incase of widows/divorcees)

(h) Legal documents of the divorcee and an affidavit that the matter is not under consideration with the higher court.

Note:- The selection of the candidate for B.sc (Nsg)/ GNM course will be however subject to producing of the mark sheet/ certificate of her passing the qualifying

examination (10+2) or equivalent before her final selection and meeting all other eligibility conditions.

Admission Process Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

The admission to FPM of IIMK will be open to all Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin and foreigners. Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination, personal interviews and work experience. Candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude.

Eligibility

(i) The candidates should possess one of the following qualifications.

Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline (including M.A, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with at least 50% marks or equivalent.
Professional qualifications such as MBBS and LLB with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Engineering degrees, viz., B.Tech and BE, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Those who are appearing for their final examinations for the above qualifications in 2008-09 are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of all requirements for the qualification latest by June 30, 2009.

(ii) Areas offering FPM in 2009-10 and the Qualifying Examination : A candidate applying for FPM of IIMK should have a valid test score not older than two years from the date of application in any of the following tests shown against each area of specialisation:

Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.33 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly, i.e., without again taking a qualifying examination.

(iii) Personal Interview : Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIMK (or any other venue fixed by the Institute) on a suitable date. During the interview, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude as well as their interest in management discipline.

Alternatively, application forms can be downloaded from the IIMK website. In this case, the application fee should be sent as crossed DD along with the application.

A candidate can apply to a maximum of two Areas. However, separate application form should be enclosed for each Area. Application forms, complete in all respects, should be sent to the address as mentioned above. Application form should be accompanied by the following documents.

Two referee recommendations each for EACH area
Copies of all testimonials/certificates/marksheets
Score card or proof of qualifying examination (CAT or other) as applicable
Application fee of Rs.300 (crossed DD) if application form has been downloaded from IIMK website
A separate notification of the Fellow Programme in Management is expected to be released by the end of August 2008 including through the website of IIMK. For further details, you may also refer to the FPM Brochure 2009-10 to be made available with the application forms.
