Applications are invited for admission into 5 Year Integrated M.Sc., (Nano-Technology) course for the Academic Year 2008-09, offered in the University Campus of Acharya Nagarjuna University.

Candidates who passed Intermediate (M.P.C.) and qualified in EAMCET 2008 are eligible for admission. If candidates with EAMCET-2008 rank are not available, seats will be filled on the basis of the marks obtained in intermediate examination (optional subjects only).

Application along with information leaflet can be obtained from The Director, Directorate of Admissions, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Nagarjunanagar-522510 on
payment of Rs. 250/- (Rupees Two hundred and fifty only) by cash or crossed demand draft drawn in favour of Director, Directorate of Admissions, payable at State Bank of Inida, N.U.Campus Branch (Code No. 4793) or Andhra Bank, ANU Campus extension counter (Code No. 9187).

Candidates can also download the application form from the University Website: www.nagarjunauniversity.ac.in. or www.anu.ac.in. Such candidates are required to enclose a D.D. for Rs. 250/- along with the application.

It can also be obtained by post by sending a D.D. of the amount mentioned above (Add Rs. 50/- extra for postage) favouring “NEF College” payable at Guwahati.

You can also download Admission Form from link above. In case the form is downloaded from internet, the student concerned will have to pay Prospectus & Form fee mentioned above at the time of submission of the form in addition to the course fee etc.

2. The filled-in Application has to be submitted at the College along with the following documents: (i) The Xerox / attested copy of entry qualification certificate.(ii) The candidate has to submit the required fee by Demand Draft in favour of “NEF College” payable at Guwahati

The Centre for Atmospheric Sciences is starting a new 2-year M.Tech. Programme in “Atmospheric-Oceanic Science & Technology” from July 2008. This programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences and will focus on “Numerical Dynamical Models for Weather Prediction, Pollutant Dispersal, Climate and Climate Change Studies”. Candidates with a valid GATE score (minimum 300 for General/OBC and 200 for SC/ST/PD) should apply if they satisfy the following eligibility criteria

Eligibility Criteria:

60% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters of the qualifying examination (M.Sc. or B.Tech./ B.E. or equivalent) or C.G.P.A. of 6.75 on a 10 point scale as determined by IIT Delhi with M.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Meteorology/ Oceanography/ Computer Science & Applications/ Geophysics/ Environmental Sciences; or B.Tech./B.E. in Civil/ Mechanical/ Chemical/ Environmental Engineering.

For candidates with M.Sc. Degree, Physics and Mathematics at the B.Sc. level is essential. Candidates having B.Tech./B.E. in other branches of engineering will be considered only if they have appropriate experience in related areas of atmospheric and oceanic sciences, meteorology, remote sensing etc.

1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Five Year LL.B Course-2008 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

(i) Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala Origin.

(ii) Academic qualifications: Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or any other Examination recognized by the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 40% marks. Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST category should have passed the qualifying examination with 35% marks. Candidates who are appearing /have appeared for the qualifying examination this year are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that they should produce the pass certificate of the qualifying examination at the time of Admission.

(iii)Age: The applicant should complete 17 years of age as on 31st December 2008.

3. Entrance Examination:

The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode on 29.06.2008 (Sunday). It will be of 3 hours duration and will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The Questions will cover General Knowledge, English and Aptitude for Legal Studies.

4. Application forms:

Application and Prospectus can be downloaded from the official website of theCommissioner for Entrance Examinations, www.cee-kerala.org from 05.05.2008 onwards. There will be separate Application forms for General and SC/ST Candidates.

5. Application Fee:

Demand Draft for Rs 600/-(for General Category) or Rs 300/-(for SC/ST Category as well as children of inter-caste couples with father/mother belonging to SC/ST, who are not eligible for SC/ST reservation) taken in favour of CEE A/C Payable at Trivandrum, should be sent along with the Application.

6. Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms :

Completed Application with all the required documents should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001, either by Registered post or by hand delivery so as to reach him before 5 pm on 02.06.2008. Late applications including those brought after 5 PM on 02.06.2008 (Monday) will not be accepted. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay. Incomplete, defective and wrongly addressed applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard.

7. Candidates will neither be allowed to include any information in the application form nor to submit any certificates / documents claiming reservation or any benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances.

8. Candidates must note that they have to obtain the required certificates in the body of the downloaded application form itself, wherever specified. The certificates that are attached separately in the application form will not be considered under any circumstances.

9. The Centralized allotment to the course will be conducted after the publication of the results of the Entrance Examination. Individual intimation regarding the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) will not be sent to candidates. The details of CAP will be announced later through leading news papers.

10. The Entrance Examination and subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the Prospectus for admission to 5 year LL.B Courses in Government Law Colleges, Kerala 2008, approved by Government. The Prospectus will be available in the Official web site of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations at “cee-kerala.org”. Candidates are directed to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus before submitting their applications.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Mumbai announces admissions in B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme commencing from 1st August 2008. This programme of IGNOU has been developed in collaboration with the DGS and is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented education and training so as to help them become officers in the Merchant Navy.

Eligibility :

The eligibility conditions are 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate from a recognized Board OR with Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B. Sc with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc. from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college/ University recognized by AICTE/ UGC/ DEC. And (2) Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree course, conducted by a Board or any University. Those appearing in educational eligibility qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria on or before the commencement of the programme and produce the certificates to that effect.

Age as on 1st August, 2008 should not be more than 20 years in case of 10+2 pass, Not more than 22 years in case of B.Sc. Degree, Not more than 24 years in case of B.E./B.Tech. (C) Physical and Medical Standards: Medically fit as per the standards prescribed by M. S. Selection :

Candidates will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test (OPENNET).
The Entrance Test will be held on 15th June, 2008.

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET) at Kochi/ Chennai/ Visakhapatnam offers career training to candidates in Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter Trades which have been newly introduced by Director General of Education & Training, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi under Craftsman Training Scheme of NCVT. The training courses of 24 months duration include basic practical training on board fishing vessels out at sea. The courses are scheduled to be commenced from 1st August 2008.

Applications in the prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the above courses through entrance examination to be held on 6th July
2008 at CIFNET Kochi, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.

Qualification :

(i) Essential: Pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) or equivalent examination with Maths and Science with 50% marks.
(ii) Desirable: One year fishing experience.
(iii) Age: 17 to 20 years as on 1st August 2008 candidates born between 01.08.1991 and 31.07.1988 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply. Upper age limit is relaxable to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years.
