The Centre for Physical Fitness and Sports Sciences offers one year full time Postgraduate Diploma in Health Fitness and Life Style Management from the academic year 2008-09 with an intake of 30 seats. Other details are as follows:

Minimum qualifications : Any second class graduate with at least an aggregate of 55% marks from any recognized university including M.B.B.S. graduates.

Preference will be given to those who have an academic back ground with life sciences, physical education, Fitness studies, and Sports Sciences. Experience and exposure to physical activities like Games, Sports and other allied activities, may also be considered. (A weightage of 5% marks will be provided to the graduates of Physical Education and allied fields).

Reservation of seats for SC, ST, and OBC candidates : In accordance with the policy of the Govt. of India and guidelines of the UGC, 15% of seats for SCs, 7 1/2% for STs, 27% of seats for OBCs are reserved with a provision of interchangeability among SCs/STs. The minimum eligibility requirement prescribed may be relaxed in the case of SC/ST candidates for filling all the seats meant for them.

Admission Procedure: The admissions will be granted to the suitable candidates based on their physical fitness and their performance in the entrance test. The selection procedure is divided into two parts. Part I: Minimum physical fitness test and Part II: Written test followed by an interview. Part I: Minimum Physical Fitness test:

This test is designed to identify the candidates minimum physical fitness levels and to know whether candidate is able to cope with the physical fitness routines of the course. There will be five tests. Candidate should meet the minimum requirement as mentioned against each test.

1. Plank Hover core muscle strength and stability test (men and women). 2 minutes for men and 1 min and fifteen seconds for women.
2. 100 meters run (men and women) 17Seconds for men and 21 seconds for women.
3. Flexed Knee sit ups (men and women) 10 for men and six for women.
4. Push ups(8 for men), Push ups(6 for women)
5. 3 kilometers run for men (21 minutes) and 2 km run for women (16 minutes).

The candidates those who are selected in the Minimum Physical Fitness test only be issued Hall tickets for written test.

Part II:
a) Written test 75 objective type questions. Each question carries one mark.

50 questions on the basic topics of Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Common D generative diseases like Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, Arthritis, Obesity etc., and basic topics of General Sciences.

25 questions on General Knowledge, Logic and numerical ability.

b) Interview for 20 marks. Short listed candidates in the written test will appear for an interview.

c) Weightage of 5 marks for the graduates of Physical Education and allied subjects

Schedule for the selection of the candidates

Eligible candidates may submit their applications in the prescribed form as per the following schedule:

Prospectus-cum-Application Form available for sale at the Academic Section, University Campus, Hyderabad : from 4.8.2008 to 18.8.2008
Application forms are available on the internet for downloading from 4.8.2008 to 18.8.2008
Last date for receipt of the filled in application : 18.8.2008
Conduct of physical fitness test: 20th & 21st August, 2008 from 10.00 a.m.
Date of Written test: 22nd August, 2008 Time : 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon
Date of Interview: 23.8.2008
Notification of the list of candidates selected/waitlisted : 25.8.2008
Last date for completion of admission : 4th September, 2008
Commencement of classes : 5th September, 2008

Note: The applicants are required to note that before applying they must ensure that they are fully eligible to apply the course. There will not be any communication directing them to appear for the minimum physical fitness test. All the applicants are required to attend for the minimum physical fitness test at Sports Complex, University Campus, Gachi Bowli, Hyderabad on 20th or 21st August, 2008 at their own cost. The candidates those who are found physically fit will only be allowed for written test to be held on 22nd August, 2008.

Cost of Prospectus-cum-Application Form :

For General and OBC candidates : Rs. 300/-
For SC/ST/PH candidates : Rs. 50/-

Candidates using the downloaded or Xeroxed application form are required to pay the prescribed entrance examination/registration fee of Rs.150/- in the case of General and OBC category and Rs. 50/- in the case of SC/ST and PH categories in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad, payable at State Bank of India, Hyderabad, Central University Campus Branch, Hyderabad (Code 5916) or on Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch, Hyderabad (Code 378).

The Physical Fitness test and the entrance examination will be held at University Campus, Gachi Bowli, Hyderabad. The candidates will attend to these tests at their own cost. Since, the physical fitness test and the entrance test are conducted continuously in a span of 3 to 5 days time, candidates are required to make their own arrangements for their stay at Hyderabad and the University will not provide any accommodation or take any responsibility in making arrangements for their stay.
