Notification for Entrance Examination/Direct Admission to Phd Programme - 2008

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the entrance test for registration to the PhD programme under the streams (1) Full time and (2) Part-time under the faculties of Science, Language and Literature, Humanities, Mass Communication & Journalism, Education, Commerce & Management Studies and Fine Arts of this University.

Eligibility:-

(1) Candidates who have secured 55% and above in their P.G. degree examination (of this University or equivalent degree of any other Indian or Foreign Universities recognized by Calicut University) shall be eligible to apply for the entrance examination for full time registration to PhD in the subject
concerned.

(2) Candidates belonging to the SC/ST Communities need only a pass in their qualifying examinations.

(3) The teachers of the affiliated Colleges in this University and University Teaching Departments will be given a relaxation of 5% marks.

Candidates exempted from Entrance Examination

(1) Regular teachers working in the Government/Aided Colleges affiliated to Universities in Kerala seeking Part-time registration.
(2) Candidates who possess M.Phil degree of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent by this University.
(3) Candidates who have qualified NET/JRF/SRF or any other fellowships awarded by funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, ICAR, ICHR, ICSSR etc.

The above candidates who are exempted from appearing for the entrance Examination can directly apply for the PhD programme in response to this notification. Such candidates must also submit consent letter from the supervising teacher regarding his/her willingness to supervise along with their application.

Candidates seeking Part-time registration should confirm their eligibility for it from the University Web-site. The number of seats available in each Department/Centre under different faculties can also be ascertained from the website. The department council will decide the actual number of vacancies to be filled by this notification. Registration shall be granted from the ranklist prepared on the basis of the marks scored in entrance test and the number of seats available under each supervising teacher in the Department/Research Centre. Those who secure 50% marks and above in the entrance examination are eligible for registration. Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, however, need only 35%.

The prescribed application form for entrance examination/Ph.D Programme downloaded from the web-site along with chalan receipt for Rs.500/- (Rs.125/- for SC/ST) towards fee should reach the Head of the concerned Department/research centre on or before 30.10.2008. The Heads of Research Centres other than University Departments should forward the applications received before 04.11.2008 to the Director, College Development Council, University of Calicut.

Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have (a) at least a three-years bachelor’s degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2009 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

Admission Procedure:

STEP-1: Common Admission Test (CAT)

All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM, Bhopal have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) on 16th November, 2008 by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies. The CAT bulletin can be obtained from selected branches of Axis Bank on payment before 8th August, 2008. IIFM will use the CAT score only for short-listing the candidates for two year full time post graduate programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

STEP-2: IIFM Application Form :

In addition to CAT, the candidates should fill up a seperate application form for admission to PGDFM. This form can be obtained either personally or by post by sending a demand draft of Rs 900/- (Rs 450/- for SC / ST) drawn in favour of "Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management" payable at Bhopal. Alternatively, the form can be downloaded from the website and the filled in hardcopy of the form along with the draft for the specified amount should be sent to IIFM. Alternatively the information bulletin and the application form can be purchased by paying cash at the various centres of the following coaching institutes (Photocopy of the cash receipt issued by the coaching institute should be attached) :

Filled in application form, complete in all respect including the CAT registration number (which will be available on CAT admit card, issued by IIM) should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 5th December 2008. Applicant should attach the photocopy of CAT admit card along with IIFM application form.

STEP-3: Group Discussion/Interview:

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview at IIFM, Bhopal during February/March 2009.

Reservation

15%, 7.5% and 3% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PWD respectively, provided they meet the minimum selection criteria as specified by IIFM. The Institute will also be implementing the OBC quota for non-creamy layer in a phased manner.

Other Important Information

Providing inaccurate or incomplete information or malpractice of any kind or canvassing will result in disqualification of the candidate.

The PGDFM application form and bulletin will be dispatched to the candidates soon after receiving their requests along with the required application fee. IIFM will not be responsible for any postal delay or loss. If a candidate, after having made a request to IIFM with the requisite money, does not receive the application form, she/he may enquire about it through Phone, Fax or E-mail.

Fifteen percent of the intake is likely to be allocated for admissions to Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign Nationals and Non Resident Indians (NRIs). Of this about one-third i.e., 5% is reserverd for Children of Indian workers of Gulf countries and South East Asia.

Eligibility

A three-year bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent in any discipline from a statutory university with atleast 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in the final examination of a bachelor’s degree can also apply.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for admission consists of two steps :

Written Test

Applicants for the full-time programme are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs which will be held on 16th November 2008.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview

Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for group discussion and personal interview. The group discussion/personal interview will be held at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and New Delhi. The final selection to the programme would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test, group discussion, personal interview and work experience.

The following weightage will be given for each component of the selection criteria :
Written Test : 70%
Personal Interview : 20%
Group Discussion : 10%

An additional score upto 10 points for work experience will also be given for full-time work experience at managerial level in a professional organization.

Eligibility Criteria :

• All applicants are required to appear for GMAT/CAT before applying to Great Lakes Institute of Management.


• For PGPM 2009, Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CAT score for the year 2007 and 2008 only. Similarly candidate can submit GMAT score not older than 2006.

Selection of Candidates for admission to MFC Programme is done on the basis of an All India Entrance Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The details regarding admission are given in Prospectus of MFC.

Eligibility:

Graduate (under 10+2+3)/Post-Graduate in any discipline, viz. Arts, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Social Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, Law, Pharmacy and Medicine with 50% marks, from the University of Delhi or any other University recognised as equivalent thereto. Reservation of seats according to the University rules for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged candidates. Candidates appearing for the final year of there Bachelor's Degree can also apply for admission.

Test Centers:

The admission Test will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2009 between 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m at Delhi, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

The University can change/cancel any test centre.

Structure Of Entrance Test

Entrance Test shall consist of multiple choice question in English comprehension and verbal ability, analytical reasoning, data interpretation and data sufficiency, quantitative ability and current business and financial enviroment.

Scholarships

A few scholarships are available on merit-cum-means basis.

Fee Payable

At present Indian MFC students are required to pay a annual fee of 11,500/- at the time of admission. The foreign students would have to pay an annual fees as per University rules. The fee may be revised from time to time by the University.

UGC National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship - December, 2008

The University Grants Commission announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 28th December, 2008 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship in Indian universities and colleges. UGC will conduct NET in 77 (seventy seven) subjects (listed under item no. 9) at 66 (sixty six) selected University Centres (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country. The result of the UGC-NET held on 29th June, 2008 and the one to be held on 28th December, 2008 will be made available on the UGC website : www.ugc.ac.in and shall also be published in the Employment News as and when it is declared. The candidates will not be individually intimated about their result.

The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Lectureship. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work inaccordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The award of JRF will depend on the performance of the candidate in NET. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Lectureship will not be considered for award of JRF. Candidates appearing in NET should clearly specify in the prescribed Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF & eligibility for Lectureship OR only for eligibility for Lectureship. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Lectureship will begoverned by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Lecturers of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Visually Handicapped (VH)/Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates will be given such special concessions as may be
decided by the Commission.

Last date for receipt of duly completed Application Forms at the respective Test Centres is 07-11-2008.

Applications on the prescribed form are invited for admission to 39th batch of Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for the academic session 2009-10.

Eligibility:

Graduate in Science, Engineering/Technology, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Science, Home Science, Commerce, Business Administration / Management, Computer Application with at least 60% marks or OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00). 5% marks are reduced for candidates belonging to reserved categories. The candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination may also apply for admission. However, their selection will be subject to the condition that they fulfil the prescribed qualifications.

Selection Procedure:

The candidates (except NRIs educated and residing abroad) have to appear in Common Admission Test (CAT) to be held by Indian Institute of Management on November 16, 2008 at various test centres in India. Our Institute uses CAT score for short-listing the candidates for our 2-year full time postgraduate programme in Management. IIMs have no rule either in selection process or in the conduct of the programme. The group discussion and Interview of the candidates who qualify the entrance test with minimum of 40 percentile (total), in CAT will be held from 2.3.2009 onwards at PAU Ludhiana.

How to Apply:

Application form and Information Brochure can be obtained from the Additional Director of Communication, Centre for Communication & International Linkage, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana from 05.09.2008 either by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs. 775/- drawn in the favour of Comptroller, PAU and payable at any schedule Bank at Ludhiana or personally on payment of Rs. 725/-in cash at the counter on all working days. Application form can also be downloaded from University website www.pau.edu Information Brochure and application forms will be sent under postal certificate and the University will not be responsible for postal delay or loss in transit. Completed application forms alongwith group discussion and interview fee of Rs. 1200/- (Rs. 1975/- for downloaded forms) in the shape of bank draft in favour of the Comptroller, PAU and payable at any scheduled bank at Ludhiana should reach the office of the Registrar, PAU, Ludhiana on or before 10.11.2008 and with late fee of Rs. 500/- on or before 18.11.2008 at 5.00 p.m.

Eligibility:

For Sr. No. 1: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering / Architecture. Sr. No. 2: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering. Sr. No. 3: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering / Architecture / Urban Planning. Sr. No. 4: Batchelor degree in engineering in any discipline OR Diploma in engineering with 5 years of supervisory experience. Sr. No. 5: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Architecture. Candidates applying for Sr. Nos.1 to 5 should have 50% marks in qualifying exam. Candidates expecting final year’s result by October 2009 may also apply for all the above courses (Sr.Nos.1 to5). Sr. Nos. 6: First class Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering / Architecture with 5 years experience. Sr. Nos. 7 to 8: Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering with 2 years experience OR Diploma in any branch of Engineering with 4 years experience. For Sr. No. P (i to iii): Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering OR Bachelor in any non engineering discipline with 2 years work experience. For Sr. Nos. Q (i to viii) & R (i to vii): Diploma in any branch of Engineering.

Mode of Selection:

For Sr. Nos.1 to 3: Written Test conducted by NICMAR for PGP ACM, PGP REUIM & PGP PEM at Pune & Hyderabad. OR valid CAT/XAT/ JMET/ ATMA/GATE/MAT scores taken after January 2007, will be acceptable in lieu of NICMAR Written Test. Eligible candidates will be called for Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. For Sr. Nos. 4 and 5 based on Written Test and Personal Interview at Hyderabad.
