Minimum Qualification

(a) Ph.D.: 55% marks or equivalent in M.E./M. Tech. or Equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering and Master of Science or Equivalent with 55% marks or equivalent for Ph.D. in Science.
(b) M. Tech: 55% Marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination and valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET exam score.
(c) The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply, Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed.
(d) Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet of the final semester is required to be submitted before commencement of programme.

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT - Calicut) invites applications for its Finishing School for Engineering Graduates in Information Technology and Soft Skills

With a view to meet the immediate trained human resource requirements of the IT & ITES industries, it is proposed to set up a chain of finishing school programmes for engineering graduates. As per the directives of MHRD, Government of India, NITs and IITs will conduct finishing school programmes during May-June 2008 ,as was done by some of them last year. This effort has the twin objectives of (i) offering suitable candidates to the IT industry and (ii) helping young graduates find jobs through appropriate training. Therefore the purpose of this training is to enhance and sharpen the required skills among engineering graduates and make them employable in the IT & ITES industry.. Mechanical Engineering(ME): M Tech/ ME in Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering/Industrial Engineering/Production and Industrial Engineering or a similar discipline with minimum marks/ CPI in Qualifying Degree.

Minimum % of marks in Qualifying Degree: 55% marks or CPI of 5.5 (on a 10-point scale) for General Category applicants and Pass Percentage marks for SC/ST applicants.

Application Forms are available from April 12, 2008. Filled up Application Forms along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/- for Gen & Rs.100/- for SC/ST category in favour of The Registrar, PDPM-IIITDM Jabalpur, Payable at SBI Branch Jabalpur must be received latest by May 07, 2008.

Eligibility Criteria : Master’s or M.Phil. degree in Population Studies with at least B+ grade or equivalent marks
Selection Criteria : On the basis of a proposal presentation, personal interview and academic merits.
Duration : Three years to a maximum of seven years

Government of India Fellowships of Rs.10,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs.12,000/- per month for 3rd year respectively available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for lectureship only in population or its inter-disciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC. Such Ph.D. fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However the candidates, without NET qualification shall be given fellowship of Rs.6,250/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs.7,000/- per month for the 3rd year, with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-. Number of seats will be as per the availability of fellowships at the time of admission.

Reservation for SC/ST candidates will be considered as per the UGC norms.
