
Monuments In India - Udaipur
The City of Sunrise, Udaipur lies in the forest area of Aravally hills in Rajasthan. This walled city was established in the 8th century by the Rajputs. There are several palaces, temples, monuments and lakes. The magnificant marble palaces have courtyards and temples decorated with coloured glass and mirror works, kiosks and frescos. The Maharana's palace stands as a crown to Udaipur city. The city palace is now a museum. To the west is the famous Pichola lake having two islands with two marble palaces. The Jagadish temple with a bronze statue of Garuda facing Lord Vishnu, built in the 17th century is another attractin of Udaipur.
