vegetarian dishes - Besan Rolls In Gravy
250 gm of besan (gram flour)
2 tsp red chilly powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp coriander powder
1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup yoghurt, well beaten
2-3 green chillies, chopped fine
salt to taste
Mix the besan with 1 tsp chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt, 2 tbsp oil and form a hard dough. Roll out to make long long shaped rolls.
Boil these rolls in hot water till they become hard and white. Cut into roundels, and keep aside.
Heat 4 tbsp oil and fry cumin seeds, remaining red chilli powder, green chillies, asafoetida, turmeric, garm masala,coriander powder, on a very slow fire.
Add the beaten Yoghurt and 1 cup water and cook 3-4 minutes. Add the gatthes (besan roundels) to the gravy and cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle coriander leaves and best served with hot rice.
